Sir Wilfrid Robarts is a well-known barrister for the poor or the underprivileged. After being bedridden for some time, he thinks that his duty is much more important than being down in his bed. Despite his nurse’s disapproval and objections, Sir Wilfrid comes back in full swing and this time, he is to take on a bigger case which might worsen his heart’s condition.
It is suspected that Leonard killed the woman since she was rich, old and a window in order to take her wealth. The accusers believe that Leonard wanted to have a significant part in Mrs. Emily French’s will. As substantial evidence is generated, it only points to Leonard as the murderer.
Even though that is the case, Sir Wilfrid believes that Vole is innocent and goes ahead to prove his judgment. He reaches out to Vole’s German wife Christine, who seems reserved about the matter, but Sir Wilfrid manages to get vital evidence as he talks with her. Sir Wilfrid has to continue with the case that might be taking him down.
