The wind blows from one side and goes to another, just like the waters. Not any of them can blow from both sides at ago. In a home, there is always one head, and when another tries to take that position, the storm will befall the house. This opens us to an alluring drama in a family of a rich man Ethan (Pierce Brosnan). His son Thomas Webb (Callum Turner) has just graduated from college and he moves into an apartment. There he meets alcoholic neighbour who drags him into the worldly habits and thoughts. Their friendship grows, but Webb also has a female friend named Mimi Pastori.
Webb usually comes home for dinner and they are a happy family with his father cracking numerous jokes. After Thomas learns about his father’s mistress (Kate Beckinsale), dinner becomes a spy out and a weapon to him. The plans are met with challenges of attraction to the extent that Thomas sleeps with his father’s mistress. Intense waves hit the family that opens Thoma’s eyes to the deeper secrets of the family. The title “The Only Living Boy in New York” was taken from a song by Simon and Garfunkel.
